Design and project management

We study before we build. On an old wall, the same crack can be settlement that has stabilised or a structural defect that is getting worse; on a new project, the same idea can cost half as much again, or twice as much, depending on how it is carried out. You cannot know until you have looked.

One point of contact, from the first record to handover. We listen to your requests: for many owners, a house also carries sentimental value, and we take that into account.

Design: before the trowel

  • The record. Each defect is marked, photographed and described. That record is what allows it to be compared from one season to the next.
  • Dated monitoring. Where necessary, dated markers show whether a crack is still moving. A defect is judged over time.
  • Technical and geological studies. The nature of the soil, clay, the water around the house: when a study is needed, we tell you, and we arrange it for you.
  • Recommendations and costing. The repair options in order of priority, and a detailed quote, itemised line by line. Before we price anything, we look for what can be avoided.

Project management: during the works

  • Authorisations. A prior declaration (déclaration préalable) or a building permit (permis de construire): the file your project calls for is prepared with you, and we follow the process through.
  • Coordination of every trade. Masonry, roofing, joinery, floors, interior fitting-out: one programme of works, one team in charge.
  • A report at each stage. You know where the job stands, whether or not you are on site.
  • Stage payments. The works are paid for in stages as they progress, never in a single payment at the order.

If your project already has an architect, or you prefer to keep control, we can take a narrower role and act for you as the person who commissions the work (the French term is assistance à maîtrise d'ouvrage): authorisations, coordination of the other contractors and the programme of works.

What we entrust to others

Structural calculations are entrusted to partner engineers: that is their profession, not ours. The first advisory visit is free of charge and without obligation. If monitoring over time or a more detailed study turns out to be useful, we tell you, and we price it beforehand.
